FMS MANAGEMENT FIESTA - 2007

FMS conducted its two-day annual management festival FMS Fiesta 2007 on 8 and 9 December. Participants from the top 20 Indian B-schools such as from IIMs, IIFT, XLRI and SP Jain took part in the event.

The key event of the fest called Carpe-diem 2007 was a show stealer. Here, team members played Board of Directors of a business conglomerate taking strategic decisions to guide it through various opportunities, problems and threats. The peppy marketing game called Myehem was also a crowd puller. Here, the participating teams were given Rs 500 each and was asked to design and market a product, using available resources. The other mega event called Manaskriti tested the levels of social responsibility among the participants.

There was even a quiz show. Fusillade 07' hosted by Gautam Bhimani, presenter, ESPN STAR Group, was a hit among the students. Another attraction at the FMS campus was students' interaction with the top notches of the industry. Finclusion, the game that aimed at connecting the future managers to the rural world, and Genesis, the paper presentation competition sponsored by HSBC was won by the teams from Delhi's Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. "It was a great experience participating in such competition." said Ankur Thadani, a second-year IIFT student. "Especially when the issue of rural finance management and urban migrants are a hype in the industry." He added.

Fiesta tested all the participants on various aspects of their business education and over-all skill sets ranging from planning or finance to marketing and R&D. The fest turned out to be a great mix of fun with serious business, mingling all the components in a perfect proportion. Other competitions such as Amnesia, Brand Aid, Code Breaker Brain Storm, etc. were also popular among the students.

"With a heady dose of learning, challenge and enjoyment, FMS Fiesta has turned out to be a success so far, said Mitul Joshi, a second-year student at FMS and also a secretary, FMS Fiesta. "Teams from the IIMs, ISB, XLRI, MDI, Symbiosis and other leading B-schools were battling out on the FMS grounds from the last two days for top positions." And why not, the FMS fest gave away prizes worth around Rs 8 lakh to the winning teams. FMS, which is part of Delhi University, offers part time and full-time programmes and is one of the premier institutes in management education.
